Defeat is the penalty; we don’t have to penalize you a second time.
It’s as though they read my mind (or the numerous comments I’ve left on the interwebs saying this precisely).

man “you complete me” is so 1997 😛
I’m not sure if I like it yet but its intriguing.
Would you believe I never even saw that movie, and I dislike Tom Cruise? 😛 And yet I could think of no better way to express my adoration upon reading this article.
I can understand on some level where death-penalty proponents are coming from; if defeat is not scary for you, you need something else to be scary for you, to give you pause and give your encounter meaning. But for me, failure is terrifying. If I can’t accomplish a task I set out to do when I sit down to play, it ruins my day. (Figuratively.)
This does not mean that I want to be handed a gold star just for showing up (a common accusation)! But I don’t need to be beat over the head with “YOU FAILED, YOU FAILED, HERE HAVE THIS *@&# SANDWICH AS A PARTING GIFT” you know? Even death penalty in Guild Wars is kind of like “aww man, kick me while I’m down….”
What I never expected was for a game coming out to say they agreed with me on that!
Mmmmm *@&% sandwich.
I like how you put that, you make a good case.
Aye, this is one of those things that makes me wonder if they have been stalking me. They just seem to get so many things *right* in their game design.
I’m on a quest to find Guild Wars 2 blogs. You came up, so I’ll be adding you to my blog roll and rss. I see familiar names like, Hunter and Tesh commenting.
Thank you – and consider yourself added as well!
