The good news is, after I sent a photo of my Guild Wars Prophecies CD key to NCSoft, control of my account was restored to me. The bad news is, well….
I guess I didn’t need that Vabbian armor. On three characters. Or the gold in my storage.
The funniest thing is the warning above my naked character’s head. Apparently that wasn’t good enough.

Thats why I havent played GW in years i cant get into my damn account. They asked for CD Keys for CoH that i got when it first came out that i no longer seem to have its terribly frustrating so i gave up .. sorry GW i guess because of NC soft you loose.
oh right and that CC# from 5 years ago they asked me for that too! Ridiculous.
I can understand their caution about account security, though it does raise the question of how it’s apparently trivial to hack an account without that information in the first place (i.e. how did they know any of my characters’ names?). Also, questioning the identity of an account holder who is emailing support from the email associated with the account boggles a bit.
I’m really hoping things are more on track with GW2, as I would hate to see people turned off by security issues even more than before. I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t link this account to my future one.
that sucks. i had a back and forth with my support contact because my cd key was so faded i couldn’t figure out what the cd key was. it could have been a 1, an I, a T, all very stupid. why they don’t keep IP addresses as a sort of soft confirmation, i don’t know.
Yeah, they told me I had one of my codes wrong when I typed it out, so I just took a picture of it and mailed it to them to illustrate just how smudged and illegible my Prophecies key is!
Guild Wars seems to have a real problem with being hacked a lot…it’s one of my main concerns for Guild Wars 2. Hope you can get your stuff back!
Unfortunately NCSoft has no way of restoring lost stuffs due to hacking. Elementalistly had a post about that here:

I can testify to receiving the same reply. *Very* worrisome for GW2, but my hopes are that someone important recognizes how damaging this would be if it were not improved for GW2. If not, ANet is in for a world of pain.
