Is that to say they compare unfavorably to Rift’s dynamic events? Because’s WAR’s PQ’s would be two steps backwards…
Actually I was being sarcastic :). I think the embedded video shows a significant and favorable distinction between GW2’s dynamic events and either rifts or PQs. Of course, YMMV.
I finally got a chance to work my way through the video, pretty neat how they cycled the quests. Rifts zone wide quests work in the same way, but not as explicitly. Unless you are paying good attention, you can miss the triggers. And I don’t think they have nearly as many triggers as it looks like GW2 does – perhaps 2-3 zone, vs here where you look to have 3+ per hub. So yeah, I agree, a good step forward!
Hey, thanks for coming back to check it out – I normally don’t post with such little commentary, but I really felt the video speaks loudly for itself :).
It’s really the next generation of public quests. I didn’t find any difference at all between Warhammer and RIFT PQs but GW2 really evolves them. That Norn kid area made me grin so hard when I was knocking down kids with snowballs and then a swarm of bears came and … oh man, so fun.
There are now so many times I realize I didn’t follow the NPC to see what was going to happen next, and this was with ANet reminding me to do so! The system is so deep, I’m in awe.
That was quite a interesting view of the GW PQ from different points of view. Great work pointing it all out and good video as well. Makes me more interested in the game.
And this is why questing in GW2 in NOT the same as in WoW, or WoW clone type game. Your actions actually have a consequence that then drives other events, even one you do not see.
The little girl with the axe just impresses the heck out of me. It’s such a little touch they didn’t have to put in at all, but it makes the whole experience tie together.
